Home Page Mistakes That Are Costing You

How web design and SEO can transform your business

What mistakes are you making on your home page?

The home page is one of the most important places on your site because it sets the tone for everything else that happens there. If people don’t know where to go next, they’re likely to bounce off your site. And if they do find something interesting, they might stick around longer. So how do you make sure that every visitor feels like he or she found exactly what they wanted? Here are some tips to keep in mind.

1. Include Calls to Action (CTAs) Everywhere

If you’ve ever been to a retail store, you probably noticed that the cashier always had a “Buy Now!” button on her register. Why? Because customers want to buy things immediately. They don’t want to wait to see if they can save money somewhere else. You can use calls to action in similar ways. For example, you could include CTAs throughout your homepage. Or, you could add a call to action to each product listing. Whatever works best for your audience.

2. Offer a Limited-Time Offer That Gets Visitors Excited About What They’ll Receive When They Sign Up

Limited-time offers are great for getting people excited about what they’ll get when they sign up. But they’re tricky to pull off. First, you have to figure out when to run the promotion. Second, you have to make sure that the offer isn’t too good to be true. Third, you have to make it easy enough for prospects to take advantage of the deal. Finally, you have to make the offer stand out among the rest of the information on your landing page.

3. Be Consistent Across All Your Pages

When you design multiple pages, you often end up creating different versions of the same thing. This makes it hard to track conversions across your entire site. To avoid this problem, try designing a single version of your homepage that works well on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Then, copy and paste the code into each individual page. Mobile traffic makes up over half of all web traffic today. And since mobile devices are used everywhere, including while shopping online, having a responsive design is critical. A good rule of thumb is to ensure that every element on your homepage loads within three seconds. This includes images, videos, buttons, forms, etc. You want to give your prospects enough information to decide whether or not they want to engage with your brand. But you also don’t want to overwhelm them with too much information
